About Me:
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, grades (K- 6), with an ESOL endorsement from Florida Atlantic University. In addition, I have a master’s degree with a concentration in curriculum and instruction. My teaching career began in West Palm Beach, Florida; whereby, I taught fifth grade for four years. I relocated to the Metro-Atlanta area and taught fifth grade in DeKalb County for two years. In addition, I was a fourth grade in Gwinnett County for 5 years, with a gifted education certification. I was a FOCUS resource teacher and Advanced Content Math & Language Arts for 7 years. I am currently a third grade teacher at Arcado Elementary.
My expectations:
Students are expected to come to school prepared, and give their best at all times. I expect them to follow school and classroom routines/ procedures. Students should share, question, reason, and contribute while solving problem-based cooperative activities.
Our classroom curriculum will model the standards of excellence goals set by Gwinnett County Public Schools Academic, Knowledge & Skills. My goal is to teach students to become responsible, respectful, and knowledgeable citizens that make significant contributions to our society. My role is to empower students with skills and strategies they can apply to various situations to promote success and growth.
Teachers, parents, and students must work together to ensure the success. I am committed to establishing a safe and positive school climate. I am also committed to assisting parents and students achieve their goals. Parents are the most powerful resources in our community. I strongly encourage classroom visits, observations, and volunteering in our classroom. Your involvement shows that we are committed to the needs of our students. You are welcomed to visit at any time; however, unless you are volunteering please do not interfere with instruction.
Parents review your child’s work often, and communicate questions, concerns, suggestions, or expectations via agenda, e-mail, or conference. Students learn from teachers, parents and their peers; however, we can all learn from each other. Student success is the result of a partnership between teachers, parents, and students. With your help, I am anticipating an extraordinary year of learning.
Please feel free to contact me directly with suggestions, questions, or concerns. My preferred method of contact is ClassDojo. Your phone or email message will be returned within 24-36 hours. My contact information is provided below or available on ClassDojo.
